Celebrity Samuel Johnson will ride his unicycle into Dimboola thisafternoon during his attempt to raise breast cancer awareness, $1 million, and to break the world record for longest unicycle journey.

Known for his roles on The Secret Life of Us, Rush, Crackerjack and Underbelly II, and as the voice of Vodafone, Suzuki and Pedigree, Samuel is undertaking a 15,000-kilometre ride around Australia to spread his sister Connies message.

Connie has fought cancer three times during her 35 years; she was first diagnosed at the age of 11 with a bone tumour in her leg, again at 22 with a tumour in her uterus, and she now has breast cancer, which has spread to her lungs, liver, pelvis, spine and knee. Her life expectancy is only six to 12 months.

Connie wants everyone to know that early detection is the key to survival, and to promote this, she wanted to send her brother around the country on his unicycle. What started as a joke in the kitchen turned into a promise.

From 5.30pm today, Samuel will race an emu down the main street of Dimboola, enjoy a sausage sizzle with the community, and play a game of Crackerjack bowls.

He started his journey in Melbourne on February 15, and hopes to have travelled the 15,000 kilometres - breaking the previous record of 14,686.82 kilometres, set by a man named Lars who cycled across 48 American states - within a year.
