The Australia Day weekend was one of significant successes for many local young sporting talents across many sports.

Ballarat Table Tennis champion Rory Carroll has returned from the National Athletes with Disability Table Tennis Championships in Hobart, Tasmania, with two medals. Carroll competed in the Class 11 singles, Open singles and Class 11 team events. In the Class 11 singles, he defeated rival Ashley Parrott to reach the final, where he went down to World Number three player, Sam von Einem in four tough sets to take silver. His second medal will come in the Teams event for Victoria, where they defeated Queensland 4-1 and the South Australian 2nd side 5-0, and now play off today for the silver and bronze medals.

Athletics stars Emma Werner and Julia Bourke (pictured), Liam Campbell, Tyson Stanley, Kyle Postlethwaite and Lewis Cain have all returned from the Victorian Country Athletics Championships in Bendigo with a haul of medals.
• Emma Werner:
o Silver in Womens Open Hammer Throw with a new Personal Best of 41.73 which means she is only 27cm off qualifying for the Australian National Championships in April.
o Bronze in Womens Open Shot Put
• Julia Bourke:
o Silver in Womens Open Shot Put
o Gold in Under 18 Womens Shot Put with a throw of 13.4m. As Julia was an invitational athlete and not a country Victoria athlete, she will retain her medals, however does not receive a placing in the record books.
• Liam Campbell:
o Two gold medals in the Boys Under 16 Discus (42.25m) and Hammer Throw (48.11m) which was a Personal Best throw.
o Silver in the Boys Under 16 Shot Put (10.26m)
• Tyson Stanley:
o Silver in the Boys Under 18 Discus with a throw of 36.58m
• Kyle Posthlethwaite:
o Bronze in the Boys Unde 18 110m hurdles
o 4th in the Boys Under 18 Javelin (31.86m)
• Lewis Cain:
o Gold in the Mens Under 20 Triple jump (12.10m)
o Silver in the Mens Under 20 110m hurdles (19.57m); 5000mW (41.49.00); High Jump (1.70m height); Long Jump (5.84m); Pole vault (2.75m height)
o Bronze in Mens Under 20 Discus (30.19m)

Swimmers supported by the Academy in Ballarat Gold Swim Club's Josh Brien, Winona Hoffman have all returned from the Victorian Country Swimming Championships at Geelong) with several medals.
• Josh Brien:
o Gold in the Boys 13 and Under 100m backstroke; 100m Butterfly and 200m Individual Medley
o Silver in the 100m Freestyle
o Most Outstanding 13 and Under competitor at Victorian Country Championships which is awarded on a points based system.
• Winona Hoffman:
o Silver in the mixed Open 4 x 50m relay
o Bronze in the 16&17 Under Backstroke and 4 x 100m Medley relay
• Maaike Vrij:
o Gold in Girls 16 and Under 4 x 50m Medley relay
o Silver in Girls 16 and Under 200m Freestyle relay
o Bronze in 4 x 100m Medley relay and 16&17 Under 100m Breaststroke
• Annie Turner:
o Gold in Girls 16 and Under 4 x 50m Medley relay
o Silver in Girls 16 and Under 200m Freestyle relay
• Jed Prouse:
o Bronze in Boys 17 & Over 4 x 50m Freestyle relay and 200m Individual Medley

Ballarat Gold as a club earned fourth place overall in the club standings.
