A tough season for the Dimboola football teams came to an end last Saturday, but despite the lack of on field success, another important side of football was on display when 36 years of commitment to the club by Mick Polycarpou was celebrated with his 500th game for the Roos.

Whilst most players will say that team success is the driving force behind them playing, the long term commitment by individuals to serve the club in both the good times and the bad is what gives the club and the community character.

Polycarpou first played for the club in 1981 and his 500 games have been made up of matches in both the seniors and reserves, and he also played a further 8 games with Pimpinio.

Over his time wearing the green and gold he has had the opportunity to play in six grand finals, although unfortunately he has not yet experienced team success in any of these matches, and also enjoyed playing alongside his twin sons, Mark and Scott, in 2015.

On Saturday the Dimboola reserves could not pull off a win for this milestone game, but Polycarpou did score the team's first goal in their narrow two goal loss to the Warrack Eagles.
