Dimboola SES volunteers pass road rescue accreditation
The Dimboola road rescue operators from the Victoria State Emergency Service (VICSES) successfully passed their Road Crash Rescue Accreditation in September.

The Dimboola Unit is now online to deliver the best possible care and safe extrication of persons involved in road crashes throughout the Wimmera.

The motivation for the volunteers from the Dimboola Unit was to provide rapid and quality road rescue support to the broader community.

On the 7th September 2017 the Dimboola Unit Controller, Des Smith, alongside unit members Caleb Halsall, Neree Launer, Josh Lehmann and Nyree Hutchins all went under assessment by the State Road Crash Rescue Capability Assessors, which involved an intense road rescue scenario and immediate release of the casualty.

The Dimboola Unit was also supported by neighbouring VICSES Nhill Unit.

Over the last 12 months, the Dimboola Unit members have provided time and commitment to the extensive training required to meet the Victoria Road Crash Rescue Arrangements.

The Dimboola Unit Controller, Des Smith, and the Mid West Regional Operations Officer, Greg Fry, supported the Dimboola Unit to build their capability, knowledge and confidence through theory and practical training with vehicle wrecks supplied to the unit for specialized training.

The VICSES region team and units are proud of the Dimboola Unit members achievements and congratulate the individuals on obtaining the accreditation for the benefit of the community in the provision of rescue response.

The teamwork, commitment, comradery and trust that has been shown as a road rescue crew is outstanding.

If you are interested to find out more about joining the SES team, you can get in contact with them via www.ses.vic.gov.au or by phoning (03) 9256 9800.
