Antwerp has won a close encounter against Arkona under lights on Friday night at Dimboola winning 3 points to 2, 9 sets each 136 games to 119.

The mixed was a tie three sets each 47 games each with 4 of the 6 sets being 9-7 or 9-8. Daniel Polack and Lucinda Newton won in a tie breaker against Ben Miller and Kaylene Pietsch.

The Men’s section belonged to Arkona winning five of the six sets on offer and 49 games to 38. Nick Pietsch and Russell Hunter teamed up to win a tie-breaker for Arkona as did Mitchell Jorgensen and Jonty Hunter.

But the Women’s was the reverse belonging to Antwerp 5 sets to 1, 51 games to 23. Antwerp’s Abbey Greig and Emily Polack teamed up to win the first set 9-2 while Kellie Laverty and Faye Wilson won the final set 9-1 for Antwerp.

Playing with four men and four ladies Warrack Maroon defeated Brim 4 points to 1, 7 sets to 5, 90 games to 79.

The mixed was even on sets with Warrack taking the point five games ahead 30 -25. Todd Krahe, Liz Doyle went down to Cam Blinman, Casey Quick 6-9 in the second set while Mitch Hadley, Kelly Krahe defeated Darren Marshman, Merrily Keam 9-4 in the third.

The Men’s again was even with two sets each however Brim took the point this time four games in front 28-32. Mitch Greenwood, Mitch Hadley defeated Kyle George, Darren Marshman 9-8 in the first set while Todd Krahe, Lachie Golder lost to Cam Blinman, Josiah Keam 4-9 in the second set.

The Warrack Maroon ladies proved too strong for Brim winning 3 of the 4 sets 32 games to 22 to take the point. Warrack’s Liz Doyle, Kathryn Lenz lost to Casey Quick, Odette Heinrich 5-9 before Kelly Krahe, Kathryn Lenz defeated Brims Merrily Keam, Odette Heinrich 9-5 in the last set of the day to seal the win.

Warrack Gold claimed all five points against Dimboola at Dimboola winning 14 sets to 1, 131 games to 66.

Playing with five ladies and five men and after borrowing two players from Dimboola, Warrack Gold’s Phil Huebner and Emma Koschitzke started the mixed defeating Jake Miller and Breanna Eldridge 9-5 to set the scene for the next three sets to follow before Dimboola’s Tony Goss and Jenny Haebich defeated James McRae and Becky Barry 9-5. Warrack took the mixed 4 sets to 1, 41 games to 24.

It was all Warrack Gold in the Men’s with Warrack claiming all five sets, 45 games to 21. Tony Goss, Will Schilling put up a good fight against Chris Kellett, James McRae going down 6-9 in the second set. Another good battle in the last set saw Rob Barry, Tony Goss go down to Dave Nitschke, Chris Kellett 7-9.

The ladies also went all Warrack Gold’s way with them taking all five sets on offer winning 45 games to 21. Two close sets to finish off on were Kate Clark, Jenny Haebich 7 defeated by Rikki Nitschke, Becky Barry 9 and Karen Bridgewater, Billie Barber 5 defeated by Lauren Kellett, Brodie Hallam 9.

Hopetoun continued their winning form claiming all five points against Rainbow at Rainbow. Hopetoun won 16 sets to 2, 152 games to 64.

Hopetoun dominated in the mixed winning all six sets. Four of the six sets went all Hopetoun’s way while two tie-breakers were played between Adam Gould, Tracey Tregenza and Taylor Donnan, Dana Schache and Seamus O’Halloran, Sharyn Gelligen and Malcolm McLean, Gina Boehm with Hopetoun the victors in both.

Hopetoun continued its domination in the Men’s again winning all six sets, 54 games to 9. Adam Gould, Rhys Boehm lost to Jacob Holm, Taylor Donnan 1-9 in the first set before Seamus O’Halloran, Matt Thomas lost to Malcolm McLean, Zac Robins 1-9 in the fourth set.

The ladies were two sets each after the completion of the first four sets with only four games in it, however Hopetoun won the last two sets to claim this point 4 sets to 2, 44 games to 33. Sharyn Gelligen, Colleen Petschel defeated Gina Boehm, Jonti George 9-2 in the second set. With the final two sets to play Tracey Tregenza, Lauren Hallam 3 lost to Zali Brown, Remy George 9. The final set was decided by a tie-breaker with Colleen Petschel, Georgina O’Halloran going down against Jonti George, Bridget Williams 8-9.
