Guide leaders from across the Wimmera met last week following changes to Guides' Grampians Region which will see the re-establishment of the Wimmera Region in January 2018.

Events planned for Guide Units around the Wimmera will include a "Thinking Day' event on February 24th and a camp in April, with both events to be held at the Arura campsite near Dimboola.

Mrs Marion Smith and Mrs Marianne Gilbert will share the role of Region Manager for a 12-month period.

Mrs Smith said that they are looking for someone to take on the role after that time.

"The person would not necessarily need to have Guiding experience, just someone with a management background and an interest in seeing girls develop and grow into confident and responsible community members."

The region boundaries were redrawn in 2012, in line with current local government areas to combine several regions including the Wimmera, and Grampians became a very large region to encompass Girl Guide Units from Kaniva through to Bacchus Marsh. The region will now be split to encompass the Wimmera and Central Highlands Region.
