The Wimmera Regional Library has announced that their 2018 Short Story Competition is now open for entries from anyone in the community, from primary school age to the most senior in our community.

This year a new category - Master Class - has been added. This is for adult entrants who have previously won the competition. Entrants in this class will be competing with others who have also written winning stories. This new class will open the Adult category to other writers and allow them to shine with their writing.

In recognition of the Centenary Commemoration of World War I, the theme for the Teenage and Adult categories of the competition is "War", and for the primary school sections it is "ANZAC Day".

The competition has been running almost annually since 1997, encouraging writers of all abilities to have a go. Many writers have been surprised by their success in the competition and are now regular entrants in this and other competitions. Some have gone on to have a book published.

Categories of the competition are Adult, Master Class, Teenage, and Primary School with a prize pool of $2110.

Entry forms are available from all branches including the Mobile Library and from their website www.wrlc.org.au.

Entries close on Wednesday 4th April 2018.
