A team of six waterskiers from the Wimmera competed alongside over 50 other Victorian skiers at the Australian Waterski Championships in Goondiwindi over the Easter long weekend.

A total of 58 Victorian personal bests, including 4 from local skiers, were posted at the Championships.

Dimboola Ski Club's Lachlan Schultz finished a strong seventh in the under-21 men's event, achieving two personal bests, skiing deep into the 13 metre line at 58km/h. Schultz will be travelling to the USA for 3 months training over the Australian winter in preparation for the 2018/19 season.

Warracknabeal's Lucinda Taylor competed in the U/21 Women's event and posted a best in her first-round skiing into the 14 metre line.

Horsham's Will Robertson also skied U/21 men's and skied into the 12 metre line, another personal best. He finished sixth in a very competitive field.

Nick Jasper also from Horsham was the fourth Wimmera skier to ski his best also in the U/21 men's competition. Jasper skied deep into the 14 metre line in his opening round.

Andrew Schultz, also of the Dimboola Ski Club, skied over 45's slalom with scores at 52km/h and 55km/h and placed well in another competitive group.

Peter Smith was the best performed of the Wimmera skiers. He finished 10th in the over-55 slalom with scores of 3 buoys at 55km/h on a 16-metre line, jumping mid-20 meters and trick skiing with stand-up passes.

Overall, the Wimmera team were rapt with their performances at the championships and look forward to the upcoming 2018/19 competitive season.
