Vicky the Truck is on its way to the Little Desert Nature Lodge these school holidays as part of the Victorian. And proud of it. campaign.

Vicky provides a free interactive digital experience where visitors learn about the Victorian Values Statement and are immersed in stories of real Victorians using virtual reality headsets. Vicky has digital photo booths, where visitors can record and share their own stories.

Vicky the Truck will be at 2 events for girls these school holidays. "It has been awesome to see a great early response from 6 towns so far. Not only do we have a 24 ft climbing wall coming, but I am also very excited to say that we have Vicky the Truck (a virtual reality experience) coming from Melbourne for this. The film that was made in Kaniva for the Victorian. And proud of it campaign is nearing completion and girls will also be able to see this on the day too" said Kaniva Guides Unit Leader, Helen Hobbs.

Girls aged 12 - 17 are invited to book in for Girls Rock. Along with virtual reality, girls will get to try rock climbing and slacklining, build rope bridges, cook their own lunch over a campfire and participate in fun leadership activities. It will be held on Thursday 12th July from 10 - 3 pm at the Little Desert Nature Lodge. This is a FREE event for girls all around the Wimmera and Tatiara. Transport is available from Kaniva, Dimboola, Nhill, Crows Corner and Goroke. The event is being run by Guides Victoria, with support and sponsorship from West Wimmera Shire Council, FreeZa and Hindmarsh Shire Council.

Girls aged 9 - 12 are invited to Girls Go Wild. This is an adventurous day of outdoor activities similar to Girls Rock. It will be held on Friday 13th July from 10 - 3 pm at the Little Desert Nature Lodge. The cost is $10. Transport is available from Dimboola and Nhill and carpooling from other areas is recommended.

These fantastic adventures are coming up for girls in the Wimmera, thanks to a $1 million grant recently awarded to Girl Guides Victoria! The funding from the Department of Health and Human Services is being used to open up the world of Guiding to hundreds of girls all around Victoria, including the Wimmera.

The Guides Victoria grant has also just been used to fit out the Arura campsite on the Wimmera River with canoes and tents. This is to enable small groups of girls to plan and run their own camping adventures, whilst developing their leadership skills. Horsham Sports and Community Centre have funded additional kayaks for this.

Places are for both events are limited and bookings close July 6th, if not before. Both events are expected to book out quickly.
