After the grand finals of the local football, netball and hockey competitions over recent weeks, summer sports are now to take centre stage with tennis hitting off this Saturday and cricket following on soon after.

The Dimboola and District Tennis Association will go into the 2018/19 season with eight teams after Warracknabeal was forced to withdraw one of their teams due to uncertain player numbers, but the Dimboola area will still be strongly represented by the Dimboola, Antwerp and Arkona clubs, with Jeparit, Rainbow, Hopetoun and Brim making up the competing teams.

The season will consist of 14 rounds, with ten played prior to Christmas, and the remaining four commencing at the start of February followed by the three rounds of finals culminating in the grand final to be played on the 23rd of March 2019.

Nine rounds will feature Friday evening games at the Dimboola Health and Fitness Centre, including a number of double headers when four teams will play.

Round one will be played this Saturday and will see Dimboola travel to Jeparit where they will be keen to start this season with a win after a disappointing 2017/18 season.

Antwerp have the opportunity to be the first to take on two-time reigning premiers Hopetoun when they are the host club on the courts at the Dimboola Health and Fitness Centre in Dimboola.

Arkona will take on the sole Warracknabeal team at Anzac Park in Warracknabeal.

Rainbow will host Brim in the other match up in round one.
