Public invited to Ceremony of Vacant Chair for WWI commemoration
All members of the Dimboola community are being invited to witness the ceremony of the Vacant Chair that will be held at the Dimboola Masonic Lodge next week to commemorate the end of World War I.

The ceremony of the Vacant Chair has been conducted by the Lodge members for many years, and they have recently begun opening their doors to all members of the public to join them in solemn remembrance of fallen friends, relatives and ancestors in all conflicts under the Australian Flag.

“We also acknowledge the loss of families and friends associated with those who were not under our flag, as their loss is no less significant,” Lodge Master Mike Haebich said.

“During the Ceremony, symbolic wreaths will be laid by Officers of the Lodge at a Vacant Chair, which, draped in the Flag, represents all fallen and past Service Personnel in all conflicts especially WW1, WW2, Korean and Vietnam Wars as well as all troops who have served under our flag in many subsequent conflicts.

“We also honour ALL Service Personnel current and past, for their dedication to the defence of our country.”

The ceremony will be held on Wednesday 14th November from 7.30pm at the Masonic Lodge in Lochiel Street.

Following the presentation, a free light supper will be provided with tea/coffee in the Lodge Banquet Hall.
