With a record number of candidates contesting the Division of Mallee in the upcoming federal election, voters are encouraged to carefully plan where they will cast their vote, with options either on Saturday at one of many polling booths or at the Early Voting Centre in Horsham.

The State Manager for Victoria, Mr Steve Kennedy, advised that there have been a number of changes to voting services in the area since the previous federal election and that this included some previous polling places not being available.

“Each election there are changes to polling services - occasionally services increase in certain geographical areas and at times decrease in others,” Mr Kennedy said.

“This is a careful election planning process with previous voting, population and travel trends analysed to determine voting services.

There will be 77 polling places throughout the Division of Mallee available on Saturday, which includes these fourteen local venues.

“While there are decreases in voting services in some places we are incredibly fortunate as Australians to have a range of voting options available to us, the likes of which are not experienced in many democracies around the world.”
