Despite there being no pennant bowls last weekend, local club members took advantage of a weekend without too much wind to play the club triples on Saturday where some close games made for some good bowls and vital practice for pennant.
At the end of the day, two teams had three wins and one team with two wins, and there will have to be a second day to complete the triples which will be advised as soon as possible.
On Sunday the semi-finals and finals of the club champion singles were held.
In the semi-finals, Judith Albrecht had a win over Carolyn Crowhurst, and Lorraine Ross claimed a very close win over Mary Argall to set up a final between Judith and Lorraine.
Judith got off to a good start, but Lorraine fought back to take the lead and go away for a 25 to 16 victory.
In the Men’s section semi-finals, Alan Krahe had a win over Robert Clark, and Geoff Gazelle defeated Josh Cook. It was great to see Josh make the semi-finals in only his second year of bowls, and despite the result on the green, it was a top performance from Josh.
This set up a final between two of the club’s most experienced bowlers, which turned into a very tight game with close scores for the most part, but in the end, it was Alan who went on to record a 25 to 22 victory for his tenth club championship.
Next Saturday pennant returns with both First and Second division sides travelling to Horsham to play, at Sunnyside and Horsham Golf respectively.
