The second Rainbow Rises 240 will take place this weekend in Rainbow with teams of drivers travelling from across Victoria, South Australia and New South Wales to take part in the event.

Most classes of cars will be seen on the track including the Pro Buggy, Super 1650 Buggy, Sportsman Buggy, Extreme 2WD, SXS Turbo, Extreme 4WD and Sportslite.

All who attend will have a range of catering options available at the track on both days including breakfast bacon and egg sandwiches (cooked until 10am), and lunch options including barbequed sausages and hamburgers, sandwiches, hot jam donuts and icecream, as well as hot and cold drinks will be available for purchase throughout the weekend.

All money raised from the weekend’s sales will go into making the Rainbow Desert Enduro and Rainbow Rises 240 events even better throughout the years.

Local stores will also be open for food options including Rainbow IGA, Royal Hotel, Eureka Hotel, Rainbow 50s Cafe, and Shell Service Station.

All of the weekend’s racing will take place on the eight-kilometre prologue track at the GrainCorp site on Bow Hill, less than one kilometre west of Rainbow.

Scrutineering for the event will take place on Saturday 7th March from 8.30am where many locals will help take part in the scrutineering process and spectators can get a closer look at the vehicles for themselves ahead of the racing.

Racing will commence at around 1.30pm on Saturday with drivers completing six laps of the track in sections one and two.

Sunday’s racing will see 22 laps completed by each of the two groups of vehicles; racing will commence at 8.30am. It is hoped the racing will be completed by 5.30pm where a trophy presentation will take place at the track.

After last year’s race, which saw dust for miles due to the lack of rain ahead of the event, it is expected that the drivers may face a similar track surface. Only time will tell what the track may provide the drivers.

At the closing of entries, 20 competitors have entered the race which will provide an exciting weekend of racing.

Why not head along to the free event and enjoy a great day out watching cars be put through their paces at the second Rainbow Rises 240 event.

The Rainbow Rises 240 event will form round one of the 2020 Victorian Off Road Championship, round one of the 2020 Victorian Off Road Club Shield and round one of the 2020 VORRA Club Championship.
