In these uncertain times, we’re trying to find any little positives we can - and this Sunday, we’ll get an extra hour of sleep.

Daylight Savings Time ends at 3am Sunday (AEDT), when clocks go back to 2am (AEST).

Many phones, laptops and tablets will automatically adjust, but you’ll still need to make sure that wall clocks and alarm clocks are manually changed before going to bed on Saturday night.

The CFA is also encouraging people to check their smoke alarms, particularly as we head into winter when heaters and electric blankets bring a greater risk of house fires.

“Regardless of the type of smoke alarm you have, all smoke alarms need to be replaced every 10 years. Having a working smoke alarm is your first line of defence in the event of a fire,” Acting CFA CEO/Chief Officer David Bruce said.

Daylight Savings Time for 2020/2021 will begin on Sunday 4 October 2020.
