The Wimmera Hockey Association will receive a grant of $7,500 from the associations and leagues tier of the Victorian Government’s ’Community Sport Sector COVID-19 Short-term Survival Package’.

This grant, which was announced earlier this week by Member for Western Victoria, Jaala Pulford, will help the Association to cover costs incurred despite not holding a competition this year, as the usual opportunities to fundraise have been non-existent.

Any remaining funds will be made available for the benefit of our member clubs, either through the provision of financial assistance directly to our clubs or by contributing to the development of our junior program, including attendance at the Junior Country Championships when they are next held.

Two of the Association’s clubs, the Nhill and District Sporting Club and the Warracknabeal Hockey Club, have previously been announced as recipients of $1,000 grants from the clubs tier of the Community Sport Sector COVID-19 Survival Package. This is also to help cover the extra expenses that will be incurred in keeping clubs functioning during this period and to allow them to be in a position to resume facilitating hockey when it becomes appropriate to do so.
