Following clarification by the Department of Health and Human Services, that rural and regional library services can provide ‘click and collect’ contactless services, preparations are underway to set up this service for Hindmarsh residents.

Hindmarsh Shire Mayor, Cr Rob Gersch said, “We are excited to offer residents within the Hindmarsh Shire area, the opportunity to utilise the new ‘click and collect’ services from Monday 31 August 2020.”

All existing library members and those joining Hindmarsh Shire libraries will be able to opt-in to the click and collect service, which will be available all four locations of Jeparit, Dimboola, Nhill and Rainbow. New library memberships are available online, or by telephoning Hindmarsh Shire.

Access to the library catalogue is through the Hindmarsh Shire Council website. Community members can make selections through an online form, or for those without access it the internet, these services can be accessed over the phone.

Couriers between metropolitan and regional libraries are not operating in many areas due to COVID-19 restrictions, so for now, only collections based within Hindmarsh Shire Libraries are available through this service.

Hindmarsh Shire Libraries Coordinator, Whitney Kingston said, “We have received an expansive new collection with many titles in both fiction, non-fiction, children’s picture books, junior and young adult titles”.

Hindmarsh Shire Libraries click and collect service will be following strict COVID-19 safety protocols with collections from each library available on the following days in each town between 2.00 and 4.00 pm - Jeparit Mondays, Dimboola Tuesdays, Nhill Thursdays and Rainbow Fridays

A member of staff will ring residents to secure a time slot, after ensuring the selection of books is ready for collection. The transactions will be completely contactless, which allows the Council to keep the new service safe for both clients and staff.
