Dimboola’s First Division bowls team defeated the top side in their competition this week, while the Second Division side went down narrowly.
The First division team have defeated the top side Horsham City by a big margin of 25 shots 80 to 55, mainly due a big win of 36 shots 44 to 8 by the side of Rob Pyers, Judith Albrecht, Shannon Williams and Greg Cook.

The team got off to a strong start and never let their opponents back into the game. This was a magnificent effort against one of the best sides in the Wimmera, well done to all.

The side of Daniel Danisch, Geoff Gazelle, Cliff Unger and Darryl Both got off to a strong start and set up good lead early in their game but the Horsham City side fought back and it came down to the last bowl of the day, the Dimmy side were holding game due to a great bowl by Daniel but the Horsham City skip held his nerve and drew the shot giving his side a 1 shot win 22 to 21 in what was a great game of bowls.

Our other side of Peter O’Loughlin, Wayne Albrecht, Ron Gaulke and Merv Roberts got off to a slow start giving their opponents a lead that they couldn’t peg back going down by 10 shots 15 to 25.

These results have the first division needing to win all their rinks next week against Horsham City 2 at City and for Coughlin Park to lose all their rinks against Nhill at Nhill.

The Second Division team had a narrow loss against Coughlin Park 2 going down by 2 shots 71 to 73.

The side of Josh Cook, Rob Clark, Ian McRae and Bill Eldridge had a good 9 shot win 30 to 21.

The side of Alan Krahe, John Moar, Bob Gooding and Bryan Beattie had a close game that could have gone either way before going down by 4 shots 21 to 25.

The side of Darryl Argall, Rick Danisch, Bill Ballard and Ian Barry also had a game that could have gone either way before going down by 7 shots 20 to 27.

All the second division team can do now is win next week and rely on other results so let’s keep our fingers crossed.

Please check the notice board for next week’s teams.

All the best in bowling,

Kittyhawk Pete
