In their last road trip of the regular Horsham Cricket Association season, the Blackheath-Dimboola Bulls travelled to Murtoa, where a Brodie Cramer century led them to victory and third place on the ladder.
Cramer strode to the crease upon the fall of the first wicket with the team total on 8 and proceeded to dominate the innings, finishing undefeated on 100, which was scored off 131 deliveries.
The only other double-figure score in the innings was Sundries with 18, as six of Cramer’s teammates ventured out to the middle but failed to make much of an impression. Justin Knorpp with 9 and Brent Tough with 8 were the next best.
Lunbeck-Murtoa’s reply only included one significant partnership of 54 for the third wicket, and although six Mudlarks contributed double-figure scores, none held the inning together in the way that Cramer did for the Bulls.
Opening bowlers Sam Polack and Elliot Braithwaite took three wickets each, Robert Somers took two, and Brendan Andison cleaned up the last one in the final over of the day’s play to leave Lubeck-Murtoa ten runs short of victory.
This win moves the Bulls to third on the B grade ladder by 0.3 per cent ahead of Lubeck-Murtoa, who is on the same points, but their hold on this position is tenuous.
They are only one win ahead of the fifth-placed Laharun, who is scheduled to play two teams currently below them on the ladder in the last two games so that the Bulls will need a good showing against the ladder-leading Colts this weekend on the Dimboola Recreation Reserve, and then against Horsham Saints the following week if they are to extend their season into the finals.
