Rainbow will come alive this weekend with the sound of off-road racing for the first time in twelve months with the third annual Rainbow Rises 240.

Last year this was one of the last events to be held in the Wimmera before Coronavirus restrictions led to sporting events being cancelled for much of 2020.

A full grid of 40 vehicles will race around the 8.7-kilometre course at the Graincorp site one kilometre west of the town on Rainbow Rises Road to contest Round One of the Motorsport Australia Victorian Off-Road Championship and Round One of the Victorian Off Road Club Shield.

The Off-Road Championships’ races will consist of 28 laps totalling 244 kilometres over five sections of 1, 8, 6, 6 and 7 laps, and the Club Shield will consist of 15 laps for 131 kilometres in three sections of 1, 8, and 6 laps. The first two sections in each will take place on Saturday from 12.30 pm, with the remaining sections on Sunday commencing from 8.00 am.

This is a Covid Safe Event that requires spectators to check-in via a QR code at the spectator ramp and be issued with a wristband to be worn throughout the event’s duration.

Catering will be available on both days from 7 am.
