The West Wimmera Warriors A grade team had the perfect lead in to the finals with a comfortable win over fellow top-four team, Homers.

With this result, the Warriors leap-frogged Homers into second place on the ladder and will be full of confidence for a good showing in the semi-finals next Saturday.

Taking the opportunity to bat first on their home wicket after winning the toss, and posted the challenging total of 155, dominated by two scores in the 30s and two in the 20s.

With the ball, Warriors’ opening bowler Josh Lees finished with the impressive figures of three wickets for 15 runs off eight overs, and Nathan Alexander and Liam Preston both took two wickets each.

In the field, Jack Crowhurst held onto two catches, three of his teammates took one each, and there were two run-outs.

Above - Josh Lees, seen here in action earlier this season, had a good day with both the bat and the ball on Saturday against Homers.

Nathan Alexander (53) and Mitch Dahlenburg (25) set a solid foundation with an opening stand of 81, and Lees completed a strong all-round game with 42 not out to see the team past the target in the 36th over. Dylan Webb was also at the wicket when the target was passed and finished on 16 not out.

With this win, the Warriors have finished in second place on the A grade ladder, with Noradjuha Toolondo Bullants minor premiers and Homers and Jung Tigers making up the semi-finalists.

Despite the C grade team having the week off with the bye, they have finished on top of the ladder and will be joined by Colts, Quantong, and Laharum in the final four to fight for the premiership.

The Warriors’ Under 16.5 team has made it to the last two in their competition and will take on Homers on the turf wicket at the Horsham City Oval tomorrow afternoon for the premiership.
