For the first time this season, the hockey action will move to the synthetic surface at the Dimboola Health and Fitness Centre, and the highlight of round three will be the last of the 2019 grand final rematches when the Yanac Tigers take on the Warrack Hoops in the Open competition.

The first two round featured similar rematches in both the Under 16 and Women’s divisions which were both won by the reigning premiers.

Open Divisino

When they last met, back in September 2019, it took two Tiger goals in extra time to separate the teams, and a similar epic game is expected on Saturday.

The Tigers are coming off a challenging game against the Cobras last weekend, and the Hoops had their game against the Burras cut short, so they might be fresher for this game.

Regardless of where these two teams are on the ladder or their recent form, they always put on a thrilling display of hockey, and this game should be no exception as they both excel on this surface.

The Horsham Hurricanes will have to play at their best when they take on the improving Kaniva Cobras. Both teams suffered narrow losses last round and will see a win here as an opportunity to take an early grip on a place in the top four.

The Nhill Rangers had a tough hit out against the Cobras in round two but will go into their game as favourites, but the out-of-form Dmboola Burras play their home turf well and could begin to turn around their season with a good display in the late game.

Women’s Division

The Dimboola Roos team, which features several players from the Warracknabeal club that is not fielding a Women’s team this year, has only had one outing so far this season so they are yet to show their best form. Their opponent this week, the Nhill Thunderbirds, will look to build on their win over Kaniva last weekend and should have the Roos’ measure.

Both the Horsham Jets and Kaniva Women suffered narrow losses last weekend, so each will rate their chances to take the full four points and firmly establish themselves in the top four.

The current ladder leaders, Yanac, have the bye in the Women’s competition and the Nhill Leopards have the week off in the Under 16s.

Under 16 Division

The Under 16 competition will feature the Yanac Warriors playing the Warrack Revengers and the undefeated Horsham Bombers taking on the fifth-placed Kaniva Raiders.

Under 12 Development Program

In the Under 12 Development Program, the Nhill Bandits play the Dimboola Kookaburras, the
Horsham Black Hawks play Kaniva Rampagers, and the Yanac Lowan Stars meet the Warrack Avengers.
