Winter sport in the Wimmera has formally come to an end for 2021 with the announcements yesterday that both local football-netball leagues are cancelling their seasons.

The boards of both leagues made the disappointing, but not unexpected, announcements yesterday, which follows the Wimmera Hockey Association announcing the cancellation of their finals earlier this month.

The following are the announcements made by the Football Netball leagues -
It is with great sadness and disappointment that the WFNL board have now received official advice from AFL Vic that we will be unable to return to play community sport this season, therefore, unfortunately, no winners will be declared for season 2021.

On behalf of the WFNL board, thank you to every person who has been involved in the 2021 season for your commitment, dedication and continued support of country football and netball in the Wimmera.

We will be back bigger, better and stronger next year, and we look forward to hopefully playing an uninterrupted season.
