Both Blackheath-Dimboola senior cricket teams are bound for the finals after wins on Saturday.

The Dimboola Recreation Reserve hosted two games on Saturday which saw the B grade Bulls’ claim victory and the minor premiership, and the C grade team confirmed their place in the finals with a comfortable win

B Grade

Rupanyup-Minyip 8/107 (R Somers 3/20, S Polack 2/20) lost to Blackheath-Dimboola 1/110 (S Polack 50 retired not out, D Polack 44)

On the main oval, Rupanyup-Minyip chose to bat first and had made 1 for 33 in fifteen overs when a heavy shower of rain forced an hour’s delay in play. After the game resumed, they went on to post 107 runs from their 38 overs for the loss of eight wickets.

Robert Somers dominated the bowling figures for Blackheath-Dimboola with three wickets for 20 runs, while Sam Polack took two and the three other bowlers used, Brodie Cramer, Brenden Marrs and Harry Young, all took one each.

The run chase began with a partnership of 76 of which Dan Polack contributed 44, and Sam Polack made the highest score for the innings when he retired not out on 50. Brodie Cramer (7 not out) and Brayden Culhane (1 not out) were at the crease in the 24th over when the target was passed.

This win, their tenth in thirteen rounds this season, has them finishing the regular season on top of the ladder as minor premiers, one game ahead of Colts, who lost on Saturday.

In the semi-final next Saturday, the Bulls will play Horsham Saints, who finished fourth on the ladder, on the turf wicket at Dudley Cornell Park. These teams have met twice this season, with the Saints winning their first encounter by six wickets in December, and last month the Bulls won by seven wickets, setting the scene for an entertaining encounter.

Colts and Laharum will play off in the other semi-final on Coughlin Park in Horsham to decide the second team to play off in the grand final the following week.

Lubeck-Murtoa 164 (A Vicendese 3/16, N Schorback 3/41) lost to Blackheath-Dimboola 5/169 (B Tough 41, A Vicendese 37, N Schorback 31, D Elliott 27)

On the Les Howland Oval, the C grade Bulls scored a solid victory over Lubeck-Murtoa as a good run into a semi-final, which in itself is a great performance in their first season back on the field after not having a team in this grade for the last two seasons.

The Mudlarks’ captain won the toss and decided to set a target for the Bulls, and in an innings that lasted into the 33rd over, only two batsmen made double figures in their total of 164.

Anthony Vicendese and Nathan Schorback took three wickets each, and the remaining four wickets were shared between three other bowlers and there was a run out.

It took the same number of overs for the Bulls to pass the target for the loss of just five wickets, with Brent Tough making the innings-high score of 41. Other significant contributions came from Anthony Vicendese with 37, Nathan Schorback’s 31, and 27 from David Elliott.

On Saturday, the Bulls will travel to Minyip to take on Horsham Saints Black in a semi-final, and although they are yet to defeat this opponent this season, with a run of three wins leading into the finals, the Bulls take some form into the game.

The other semi-final will see the West Wimmera Warriors and Quantong clash on the Dmboola Road Oval in Horsham.
