The Wimmera Emergency Management Team has developed Fire Ready Guides for the townships of Dimboola and Rainbow.

These guides were developed because Dimboola and Rainbow have been identified as areas of extreme bushfire risk. Dimboola is located close to the Little Desert National Park and the Wail State Forest, whilst Rainbow is surrounded by bushland.

Hindmarsh Shire Council Acting CEO Bill Millard said that Dimboola and Rainbow residents will receive a free copy of their fire ready guide in the mail over the next couple of weeks.
“These guides will help people living in Dimboola and Rainbow to plan and prepare for days when hot, dry and windy conditions create a fire risk in their area.

They contain important information to help people to prepare their Bushfire Survival Plan, a fire map of the local area, emergency contact information and an overview of the Australian Fire Danger Rating System”

- Hindmarsh Shire Council Acting CEO Bill Millard
Mr Millard said that the current fires in Grampians are a timely reminder that natural disasters can happen anywhere at any time. “The Wimmera 72 website is another great resource that I encourage our residents to use. Developed by the Wimmera Emergency Management Team, the website contains important information and links and helps people plan and prepare for emergencies” he said.

If people have any questions in relation to the Dimboola and Rainbow Fire Ready Guides and/or the Wimmera 72 website, they can email the Wimmera Emergency Management Team at wemt@hrcc.vic.gov.au

Copies of the Dimboola and Rainbow Fire Ready Guides are available from the Hindmarsh Shire Council Office in Rainbow and Dimboola, and along with other important emergency information, these guides are also available on the Wimmera 72 and Hindmarsh Shire Council websites.
