Members of the community are invited to attend an event to recognise and thank emergency services, volunteers and staff for their incredible efforts in controlling and eventually containing the Little Desert bushfire at a function next month.

The Little Desert Bushfire Community Thank You Event will be held at the Dimboola Soundshell on Saturday, 29 March, and commence at 6:00 pm, with live music performances from Dog and Bass, followed by Head Rush from 7:30 pm.

Those attending are encouraged to bring their own chairs and blankets to make themselves comfortable on the grassed area.

Catering will be in the hands of the Dimboola Lions Club with a barbeque, along with several other options available from various food vendors.

There will be a range of activities set up for the entire family, including art displays from local school students, firefighting equipment displays from local CFA brigades, Toby’s Sky Tours will be there with powerful telescopes to view the stars, and Hindmarsh Shire Youth Council will have giant games for kids, free popcorn and face painting.

An auction will also be held with all proceeds to be distributed to CFA brigades.

Amongst the items up for auction are a helicopter joy flight over the Little Desert and a $200.00 meal and drink voucher for the Victoria Hotel Dimboola.

This community event is free of charge, although there will be collection tins available for anyone who wishes to donate in support of the CFA.

Due to the anticipated crowd numbers, the road within the recreation reserve will be closed to through traffic in the vicinity of the Soundshell.

People requiring all-abilities parking should contact their local Hindmarsh Shire Council Library and Customer Service Centre to book a parking space.
