The local tennis and cricket seasons will conclude with grand finals this weekend.

Antwerp is the local hope in the Dimboola and District Tennis Association season decider tomorrow at the Dimboola Health and Fitness Centre, which will take on Warracknabeal for the title.

With the temperature forecast to reach the high 30s tomorrow, the action is set to hit off at 9.30 am.

Warracknabeal had a solid hit out two weeks ago when they eliminated Dimboola in the semi-finals, while Antwerp will be fresh, having not played for three weeks after Hopetoun could not field a team and had to forfeit their semi-final.

With a one-all head-to-head record so far this season, if they can both put their best combinations on the court tomorrow afternoon, this will be a cracking contest that could go either way.
Previous meetings this season -
  • Round 5 - Warracknabeal 5 pts defeated Antwerp 0 pts
  • Round 12 - Antwerp 4 pts defeated Warracknabeal 1 pt
The cricket season will also end this weekend, with grand finals in the three senior grades.

After finishing the regular season in third place on the ladder, the West Wimmera Warriors defeated Laharum in the semi-final last weekend, and they will play Homers, who had a win over Lubeck-Murtoa, to qualify for the grand final.

In two previous meetings this season, they won one each. In round two, Homers won by five runs, and in round thirteen, the Warriors won by eight wickets with fourteen overs to spare.

Both had comfortable semi-final wins, which eliminated higher-ranked opponents, so this is another game that will be an enthralling match-up that either team could win.

This game will be a one day match, played on the Dimboola Road Oval in Horsham, starting at 1 pm tomorrow.
Previous meetings this season -
  • Round 2 - Homers 7/127 defeated West Wimmera Warriors 10/122
  • Round 8 - West Wimmera Warriors v. Homers - Abandoned
  • Round 13 - West Wimmera Warriors 2/154 defeated Homers 9/153
In the other grades, Homers play Bullants in the A-grade on the Horsham City Oval, and Bullants and Tigers will play off for the B-grade at Dudley Cornell Park, with both played over Saturday and Sunday.
