Update 2.40pm - The Western Highway was reopened soon after 2.30pm this afternoon following this incident earlier today.




The Western Highway is expected to be closed until mid-afternoon following a truck collision near Nhill early this morning.

Emergency services were called to the collision on the highway, which involved two B-Double trucks, about 12.30am this morning.

The exact circumstances of the incident are still to be determined however it appears at this stage that one truck has side-swiped the other.

One of the truck drivers, a 38-year-old Wantirna South man, suffered upper body injuries.

The second truck driver, a 45-year-old South Australian man, was uninjured.

A number of agencies are working to recover the trucks and the highway is expected to be closed until at least 1pm this afternoon.

Traffic diversions are in place at Nhill and Kaniva, with police asking motorists to avoid the area.
