The last three teams to contest the 2026 Wimmera Hockey Association grand finals were decided after three enthralling preliminary finals on the turf at Dimboola on Saturday.  After a dominant regular season, the Dimboola Roos will be looking to claim a place in the grand final when they take on Kaniva in the preliminary final on Saturday afternoon. |

 It has been another busy month in the Hindmarsh Shire - find out what Mayor Cr Ismay has been up to.  After six exciting semi-final matches played at Kaniva on Saturday, one team in each of the Wimmera Hockey Association’s divisions has confirmed a place in their respective grand finals, two others are still in the premiership race and must face off next Saturday at Dimboola to stake their claim for the title, and one more from each has dropped out of contention.  The Jeparit weir has reached the end of its operational life, and a petition has been created to urge the Victorian government to fund a long-term solution to protect this community asset for future generations.  The first round of the Wimmera Hockey Association finals will be played at Kaniva this Saturday, with some teams playing for direct passage to their grand final and others fighting to stay in the race.  The Woorak Hall reached a significant milestone on Saturday, 8 August, when more than 130 people, including past and present residents, their families and friends, gathered to celebrate its centenary.  The final round of the Wimmera Hockey Association regular season held different significance for each of the three competition divisions in the context of the upcoming finals series, creating an intriguing mix of games.  As we enter the last round of the Wimmera Hockey Association’s regular season, the semi-final matchups have been set in both the Open and Women’s divisions, but a great deal could still change on the Under 16 ladder, with all three matches to have an influence on who plays who in the first round of finals the following week.  As Victoria heads into spring, people are being reminded to take simple steps to stay safe around magpies and other swooping birds.  Several more pieces of the finals puzzle fell into place after the penultimate round of the Wimmera hockey regular season was played at Nhill on Saturday.  With just two more rounds of the Wimmera Hockey Association’s regular season remaining, ten of the twelve finalists across the three competitions are confirmed; however, there are still several stories to be played out before the semi-finals begin.  It was a big day at Yanac on Saturday with a full round of matches and the host club’s ‘Back to Yanac Hockey Club’ function in the evening that was attended by more than 150 current and former club members, opponents and several well-known Wimmera hockey identities.  Work to upgrade the facilities at the Nhill Trailer Exchange has been completed.
