Around one hundred volunteers braved a cold start on Saturday morning to be involved in the twentieth Project Hindmarsh tree planting weekend, which saw nearly 12,000 trees planted at sites at Dimboola and Jeparit.

Participants travelled from across the Wimmera, as well as from as far afield as Bacchus Marsh and Dandenong to be involved and were based at the Little Desert Nature Lodge, south of Nhill whilst in the Hindmarsh Shire.

Some of the volunteers were participating for the first time, whilst some of the tree planting veterans have been involved for up to the fifteen years.

The trees, all of which were grown from locally collected seeds to ensure appropriate species, were planted over four sites, with two on the banks of the Wimmera River west of Jeparit and two on remnant Buloke woodlands near Dimboola.
