Hindmarsh Shire announces Business Assistance and Community Action Grants
|Hindmarsh Shire Council has assessed and announced the successful applications for the last round of the Business Assistance Grants and Community Action Grants for the 2017 / 2018 Financial Year.
The Business Assistance and Community Action Grant programs were established in 2016 and 2013 respectively to support local businesses with start-up, business growth and streetscape improvement and to support community groups with funds to provide services, self-help and assistance with community development, social action and connectedness.
Hindmarsh Shire Council, Mayor Cr Ron Ismay said “As can be seen in the following, it is always great to see a range of applications from local businesses and many of our community groups located throughout the Shire”.
|Rainbow 50’s Café, Rainbow ||Further development of the new business in Rainbow includes assistance with rent, fees and aesthetic improvements.|
|Wendy’s Retreat, Nhill ||Assist with the development of marketing and promotional materials for both hard copy and online mediums.|
|Bruce Miller Plumbing, Dimboola ||Renewal of shop front veranda.|
|The Gateway Shop, Dimboola ||Purchase and installation of shop window blinds and installation of shop front signage on the fascia.|
|2J’s Furniture and Gifts, Dimboola ||Carry out repairs to the shop front veranda, repaint and re-tile the shop front and installation of new signage on the fascia.|
Community Assistance Category
|Nhill-Dimboola Band Inc, Dimboola ||Assistance with venue hire for rehearsals ||$1,000|
|Rainbow and District Landcare Group, Rainbow ||Purchase of signage for the Rainbow Heritage Walking Track ||$1,000|
Event Sponsorship Category
|Jeparit Anglers Club ||Funds will assist with the cost of advertising for the Annual Jeparit Fishing Contest and for the hire of equipment. ||$1,000|
|Dimboola Town Committee, Dimboola ||Funds will assist with the hiring of entertainment activities at the Dimboola Easter Eggstravaganza. ||$500|
Minor Facility Upgrade Category
|Yanac Public Hall and Recreation Reserve, Yanac ||Assistance with the purchase and installation of a 5kw solar system to be installed at the Yanac Hall ||$2,000|
|Dimboola Victorian Railways Institute (VRI), Dimboola ||Funds will be used to assist with the restoration of the exterior of the building. Works will include replacement of weatherboards and painting. ||$2,000|
|Dimboola Kindergarten Advisory Committee, Dimboola ||Funds will be used to assist with the painting of the Kindergarten room. ||$1,990|
|Dimboola Bowling Club, Dimboola ||Assistance with the purchase of new seating and tables for the front of the Dimboola Bowling Club rooms. ||$2,000|
Small Equipment Category
|Woorak Community and Landcare Management Group ||Purchase of a portable public address system to use on farm walks, outdoor meetings and at the Woorak Hall. ||$1,000|
|Sing Australia Nhill ||Funds will be used to assist with the purchase on of new Sing Australia Songbooks. ||$600|
Cr Ismay added “On behalf of Council I would like to congratulate all successful applicants. We are excited to be able to support so many great projects and initiatives to improve both businesses and community based organisations within our communities. We would like to encourage local businesses and community groups to contact us early in the new 2018 / 2019 Financial Year to discuss any possible projects or initiatives that may be eligible for a Business Assistance or Community Action Grant”.
