With two rounds remaining in the regular season, six teams remain in the running to qualify for the finals of the Dimboola and District Tennis Association.
Rainbow and Brim have already done enough to start planning their final’s campaigns, while Hopetoun and Antwerp, who currently occupy third and fourth places, will need one win each for the last two rounds to remain in the top four.
Outside the top four, Warracknabeal and Dimboola remain a chance to progress to the finals but will need to win both of their remaining matches and rely on several other favourable results.
Round Thirteen Preview
Two big matches headline round thirteen next weekend, with the two leading teams battling for the minor premiership, and two teams in contention for the last place in the top four meeting.
Brim (2nd) will host Rainbow (1st) on Saturday evening, and with three points separating them on the ladder, the winner will almost certainly earn the minor premiership if they both go on to defeat lower-ranked opponents in the last round.
The other pivotal match-up will see Antwerp (4th) and Warracknabeal (5th) meet on the latter’s courts where the winner will finish the round in the top four and be in the best position to retain that place. The vanquished will then have to win in the last round to have any chance of making the finals. With both to meet an opponent from the top two in round fourteen, this may be their last opportunity to stake a claim for a place in the finals.
Dimboola (6th) should retain a slender chance of making the semi-finals if they can overcome Arkona (7th) on Friday evening, and Hopetoun (3rd) should confirm a top three finish when they visit Jeparit (8th) on Saturday.
