Police, Ambulance, CFA and SES crews attended a car crash this morning at the intersection of Horsham Road and the Western Highway just east of Dimboola.

The accident occurred just before 10 am when a car turning onto the highway and an Adelaide bound vehicle collided.

Five people, including two primary school aged children, were assessed by Ambulance Victoria crews, with four taken to the Wimmera Base Hospital by ambulance and one flown to hospital in Bendigo by helicopter.

The Western Highway was closed for around two and a half hours, with westbound traffic being diverted through Dimboola.

State Emergency Service crews from Dimboola, Nhill and Horsham attended, as did Country Fire Authority crews from Dimboola and Gerang.

The scene had been cleared by 12.40 pm and the highway reopened to traffic.
