Today’s weather is a taste of what’s to come over the next couple of days with the mercury set to reach the high 30s on Thursday and Friday.

This comes alongside a heat health alert from the Department of Health and Human Services for the Wimmera and Mallee on Thursday, and the Mallee on Friday.

These alerts are issued by Victoria’s Chief Health Officer to notify Victorians of extreme heat conditions forecast at or above heat health temperature thresholds.

DHHS reminds people that heat kills more Australians than any other natural disaster.

The forecast for both Nhill and Horsham has been revised up to 39°C for Thursday and 40°C for Friday.

The Fire Danger Ratings for the Wimmera are ‘Very High’ on Thursday and ‘Severe’ on Friday.

During the warmer weather, remember to
  • Drink more water
  • Never leave kids, adults or pets in cars
  • Check in on others
  • Keep cool
  • Plan ahead
