Cricket | Warriors win again
Both West Wimmera Warriors senior teams remain undefeated after three B grade round and two in the C grade in the Horsham Cricket Association season.

B Grade

A third consecutive score over 50 for Mitch Dahlenburg led the B grade West Wimmera Warriors to their third win for the season, which on this occasion yielded an undefeated 97 against Lubeck-Murtoa on the Murtoa ground.

In his previous two innings this season he has scored 52 against Rupanyup-Minyip and an impressive 116 against Quantong in round two.

After opening the innings, Dahlenburg remained undefeated at the end of the Warriors’ thirty overs after sharing a 78 run second wicket partnership with Nathan Alexander who contributed 38 and finished with an unfinished 55 run partnership with Josh Lees who finished not out on 17.

They finished with 172 runs for the loss of just three wickets.

Lubeck-Murtoa has lost their fifth wicket with just 42 runs on the board, but a sixth-wicket partnership of 63 kept them in the game but a slow scoring rate and a couple of late wickets conspired to have them finish 64 runs sort of the target.

Jordan Gurry led the bowling with four wickets for 13 runs of five overs, and Dahlenburg’s good day continued in the field where he took two catches as wicketkeeper.

C Grade

The C grade team enjoyed their first home game of the season at Davis Park in Nhill and took full advantage of winning the toss to post 6 for 113 in their allocated overs of the T20 game.

Opener Darcy Bullen made the team’s top score of 20 but had some solid assistance from Dan Cross (16), Dom Colombera (15), Jordan Leach (13) and Shane Gusman (11) through the middle order.

The Jung Tigers batted out their twenty overs but some tight bowling kept their scoring rate below what was required and they finished with 89 for the loss of six wickets, still 24 runs behind the target.

Shane Gusmsn had a good all-round day, with two wickets off his three overs, along with a catch and run out in the field.

Trevor James, Dan Cross, and Steve Leach all took one wicket each.

Next Saturday the B grade Warriors will host Horsham Saints at Davis Park in Nhill in another one day game and the two undefeated teams in the C grade, the Warriors and Colts, will clash at Sir Robert Menzies Park in Jeparit for outright top place on the ladder.
