In the lead up to their annual Easter Fishing contest, the Jeparit Anglers Club held their February competition last weekend.

The competition which ran from 7 am on Saturday to 1 pm on Sunday was held on the Wimmera River at Jeparit attracted and twenty senior and seven junior anglers and a total of 32 fish were weight in.

The winner of heist fish in the junior sections was Ethan King who landed both the heaviest Yellowbelly (Golden Perch) at 775 grams and the heaviest carp at 750 grams.

In the Senior section, Erin Preston caught the heaviest Catfish of 450 grams and Max McKenzie caught the biggest Redfin (English Perch) which weighed 150g. Neil Zanker landed the heaviest Yellowbelly which weighed in at 2.16 kilograms.

The heaviest European Carp was caught by Raymond Schulze at 2.25 kilograms.

The Jeparit Easter Fishing competition will be held on 11 April 2020 between 7.30 am and 3.00 pm on the Wimmera River at Jeparit and will have a large pool of prizes up for grabs.
