On a beautiful late summer day seven players from Horsham Croquet Club and five from Kalimna Park joined ten Dimboola players for an enjoyable social tournament.

With the emphasis on enjoyment, players were paired up more or less randomly for four games, with handicaps ranged from 1 to 16, indicating the broad skill range participating.

While players of all levels played with and against each other, prizes were awarded in two divisions, with A Division for handicaps from 1 to 7 and B Division from 8 to 16.

The winner of A Division was Dot Mills of Kalimna Park Croquet Club with 4 wins and 32 hoops to 16. The runner-up was Gary Devlin of Horsham Croquet Club with 4 wins and 30 hoops to 22.

B Division was closely contested. On 3 wins and 30 hoops to 22, Valmai Hood of Horsham won over Barry Dunn, also of Horsham Croquet Club, on 3 wins 27 hoops to 21.

Dimboola players shared the playing duties around with no-one playing more than two games. John Lehmann was the most successful of the locals with 2 wins and 15 hoops to 11.

The day concluded with a beautiful. and diet destroying. afternoon tea at the Bowling Club as once again the Croquet Club ladies excelled in their hospitality.

A beautiful fruit hamper was raffled to end the day, and this was won by Horsham’s Robyn Goodwin
