A big century by Mitch Dahlenburg and a near triple-figure score by Nathan Alexander headlined a big score by the B grade Warriors on the first day of their last regular season game on Saturday against Jung Tigers.

B Grade

Only five of the Warriors’ batsmen were required to bat out their 70 overs with Dahlenburg’s contributing 172 not out, Nathan Alexander falling just short of a century with 98, and Aaron Cramer putting on 56 not out to build the total of 346 for the loss of just 3 wickets.

With his 40 runs in the one day grand final on Sunday, Dahlenburg (above) has now scored over 1,000 runs for the season, including four centuries and five other scores above fifty Alexander has also had a good season with the bat, with one century and five half centuries in nine innings.

Next week the team will return to the Dimboola Road Oval in Horsham to defend this total as they attempt to finish the regular season undefeated.

C Grade

The second last round of the C grade competition saw a top of the table clash between the West Wimmera Warriors and Colts, with the latter team taking the points.

Colts took the opportunity to bat first and posted a solid score of 163 for the loss of 7 wickets off their allotted 40 overs, anchored around four players making above twenty and two others making scored in the teens.

Two bowlers, Xavier Bone and Ruby James took two wickets each, and Shane Gusman, Trevor James and Trevor Polkinghorne took one each.

The reply was dominated by a middle order score of 30 by Steve Leach, with significant contributions from Polkinghorne (16) and Darcy Bullen (16), but with no other scores in double figures, the last wicket fell with the team total at 111, still 52 runs short of the target.

The last round before the finals will be played next Saturday, but the Warriors are scheduled for the bye, so will have to sit back and watch as other teams fight it out to determine the final makeup of the top four.

Current standings suggest that the Warriors will take on Laharum in the semi finals the following week.
