The Rainbow Show is the latest community event to be cancelled due to the current coronavirus restrictions.

In a statement released yesterday, Rainbow A & P Society President Fred Saul said “Due to the ongoing uncertainty surrounding COVID-19 and the restrictions that are placed on hosting community events, the Committee believes this decision is in the best interests of the Rainbow Show and the community.

“We look forward to being able to celebrate our 110th show in 2021.”

Last month the Dimboola A & P Society announced that their annual show would be also be cancelled.

The first show held under the auspices of the Rainbow A & P Society was on Friday 19 October 1906 and the Horsham Times announced it to be Best yet held in the Mallee with an attendance of around 2,500, with nearly 700 of them travelling to Rainbow on a special train from Dimboola

The last time a significant number of Wimmera shows were cancelled was between 1940 and 1944 during World War Two.

It has also been announced that the 2020 Nhill Show has been cancelled.
