A second application for funding for the redevelopment of Davis Park in Nhill is to be submitted to the Victorian Government’s Community Sports Infrastructure Stimulus Program - Round 2.

Council was unsuccessful in its submission through the same funding program in round 1 but was invited by the Victorian Government to resubmit its application in round 2.

This application was endorsed by the Hindmarsh Shire Council at its meeting on Wednesday 3 February 2021.

The redevelopment of Davis Park has been a hot topic, particularly since the demolition of the old grandstand (above).

Mayor, Cr Ron Ismay said “This is a fantastic opportunity for Council to re-submit its previous application as round 2 is only open to invited applicants.

“There is a very quick turnaround from being invited to re-submit and to when applications close.

Successful applicants from this round will need to commence on-ground works before the end of 2021.

Hindmarsh Shire Council in conjunction with the Nhill and District Sporting Club will be conducting a drop-in information session on Thursday night 25 February at the Davis Park clubrooms from 7.00 pm until 8.30 pm. Council staff and representatives from Nhill and District Sporting will be present to answer questions.

The proposed redevelopment will include new male and female change rooms, new community clubrooms with tiered undercover spectator seating, new public toilets, a community gymnasium, and a new netball court.
