NOTICE | Notice of Intent to set Councillor and Mayoral Allowance

Notice is hereby given in accordance with the Section 74 of the Local Government Act 1989 of Hindmarsh Shire Council’s intention to set the following allowances for a Category 1 Council (small shire).

	Councillor Allowance		$21,049.00 per annum
	Mayoral Allowance		$62,884.00 per annum

The Local Government Act 1989 provides that a Council must review and determine the level of Councillor and Mayoral Allowance within six months after a Council general election, or by the next 30 June, whichever is the later.

The Victorian Government Gazette dated 13 November 2019 set Allowances for Category 1 Councils to be within a range of $8,833.00 to $21,049.00 for Councillors and the allowance for a Mayor to be up to $62,884.00.

Any person who wishes to make a submission in regard to the intended allowances may lodge a submission in writing to Greg Wood, Chief Executive Officer, PO Box 250, Nhill VIC 3418 or via email to info@hindmarsh.vic.gov.au by no later than 5pm on Thursday 08 April 2021.

Any person making a submission is entitled to request to appear in person, or to be represented by a person specified in the submission at the council meeting to be held at 3pm on Wednesday 05 May 2021 at the Nhill Memorial Community Centre.
