Plans are in place for a “COVID-Safe” Anzac Day in Dimboola this year with the Dimboola RSL Sub-Branch and Dimboola Memorial Secondary College looking forward to holding services this year, after 2020 commemorations were cancelled.

The Dawn Service at 6am will go ahead as normal with the only change being the need to check-in by scanning a QR code or on paper.

Dimboola RSL Sub-Branch President Brian Boswell said that checking in is a government requirement and that, by doing this small thing, the services are able to go ahead.

“It would be a good idea for every on to arrive early to avoid delays in the service,” he said.

After the Dawn Service, staff and students from DMSC will host a bacon and egg breakfast outside the College Assembly Hall.

The morning service will commence at 8.30am with the march up to the Memorial Building commencing at the front gates. Wreaths will then be placed beneath the Honour Rolls at the front of the Memorial Building.

At 9am, Pastor Susan Hobbs from the Uniting Church will lead the morning commemorative service in the Assembly Hall. Nhill Dimboola Band will provide music for the service.

Due to capacity requirements for Department of Education venues, a limit of 160 people will apply in the Hall.

Mr Boswell also encouraged those attending the later service to arrive early to make sure they can check in before the service begins.
