Following the announcement by the Victorian Government earlier today of a seven-day state-wide lockdown, events that were to be held during this time have been cancelled or postponed.

As the state moves back to stay-at-home restrictions for one week to slow the spread of the current outbreak, all public events organised for the next seven days, starting on Friday 28 May 2021, will not take place as planned.

Doubt has also been cast on some events scheduled for the following weekend, with the lockdown being lifted early on the morning of Friday 4 June, all being well, which leaves little time to finalise details and catering.

All community sport has been put on hold for at least a week, including training and social events and competition games.

The following competitions have announce the postponement of the rounds scheduled for this weekend.
  • Wimmera Football Netball League
  • Horsham District Football Netball League
  • Wimmera Hockey Association
Once the situation becomes more apparent later next week, if it is appropriate, the officials of these organisations will begin planning to either abandon the games altogether or reschedule them for later in the season.

The Dimboola Rowing Club’s 2020-21 season presentation that was to be held tomorrow evening has been postponed.

As of the close of business tonight, the Hindmarsh Shire Council’s Libraries and customer service centres will be closed to members of the public until next Friday, 4 June. Further information regarding Click and Collect library services will be provided early next week.

The main telephone line will be answered between 9 am and 5 pm Monday to Friday during the closure.

All public events organised between tomorrow, Friday 28 May 2021, and Friday 4 June 2021 have been cancelled, which included the following events:
  • Story Time Sessions
  • Baby Rhyme Time Sessions
  • Playgroup Sessions
  • ‘Level Up’ FReeZa Event
  • Budget Drop-In session for Jeparit and Nhill
  • ‘Utopia’ Screening at the Dimboola Library
The next Council meeting that was scheduled for next Wednesday has been postponed, with a new date to be announced once the outcome of the lockdown is known.

The Dimboola Town Committee’s Welcome to New Residents that was to be held tomorrow evening has also been postponed.
