The Victorian Premier announced this afternoon that the whole state would go into lockdown as of 11.59 pm this evening for the next five days.

The lockdown is currently scheduled to end at 11:59 pm next Tuesday evening.

The rules will be the same as the last lockdown and will apply statewide, which involves a return to only five stated reasons to leave home and work from home apart from essential workers.

As a result, the region’s sporting venues will remain empty this weekend.

The Wimmera Hockey Association announced after rescheduling two competition rounds postponed due to the last lockdown that any future games missed for Coronavirus related reasons would be abandoned altogether and not rescheduled later in the season.

The local football and netball leagues will also now be working on contingency plans to continue their seasons after the lockdown is lifted.
