In the coming weeks, new street furniture will be installed throughout Jeparit by the Hindmarsh Shire Council in conjunction with the Jeparit Town Committee.

The street furniture replacement is a continuation of a program to replace outdated concrete and timber seating across the Hindmarsh Shire with the new seats constructed of powder-coated steel frame and fitted with slats of modwood, a composite plastic and timber material.

In most circumstances, the new seats will be located where existing seats are, but others will be installed in new locations.

Hindmarsh Shire Council Mayor, Cr Ron Ismay, said, “I would like to thank the Jeparit Town Committee for their support in identifying the style of seat and selecting the locations where the new seats are to be installed.

“In accordance with appropriate disability access compliance parameters and Australian Standards the new seating will be positioned on the kerbside of footpaths to enable easier and safer access for all users. This is the same process that has been undertaken in other towns where new street furniture has been installed.”

The Jeparit Town Committee has requested that some of the replaced seating be relocated and used at various locations around the town, including the Wimmera Mallee Pioneer Museum and the Jeparit Cemetery.
