Community action grants open for groups and not-for-profits
|Round One of this year’s Hindmarsh Shire Council Community Action Grants Program is now open.
Since the program began in 2013 it has assisted community groups and non-profit organisations in hosting community events, purchasing necessary equipment, and upgrading facilities.
Hindmarsh Shire Council Mayor Ron Ismay said that Council recognises the value of volunteers and groups.
“Council recognises the valuable role our volunteers and non-profit community groups play in making our communities vibrant, enjoyable, and socially connected. Their contribution is particularly important in the present times.
“If representatives of community organisations require any assistance Council staff will be happy to assist with any queries they may have prior to submitting an application.”
There are three categories in this program:
Community AssistanceRound One applications close at 5pm on Wednesday 13th October 2021.
Through the Community Assistance Program, grants of up to $1,000 are available to not-for-profit community groups and organisations to assist with worthwhile projects that do not fit under the Event Sponsorship, Minor Facility Upgrades or Small Equipment categories of the Community Action Grants program.
Event sponsorship grants offer grants of up to $500 to assist with events within Hindmarsh Shire which demonstrate social and economic benefit to the Hindmarsh community.
For larger events with a regional impact, Council may allocate an increased sponsorship amount. To be eligible applications must provide evidence of the events social and economic impact to the Hindmarsh community.
Small Equipment Grants of up to $1,000 are available to non-for-profit organisations to assist in the cost of purchasing small equipment items. In the past grants have been utilised in the purchase of items such as, but not limited to, garden equipment and tools, appliances and whitegoods, and computers and electronic items.
Application forms are available on the Hindmarsh Shire Council website and they can either be downloaded or completed online.
