The Grampians Public Health Unit has confirmed a positive COVID-19 case in the Nhill area.

West Wimmera Health Service said in a statement earlier today that the case is contained and primary contacts of the person have been tested.

“We thank those involved for getting on top of this quickly and getting tested.

“It was inevitable that COVID-19 would reach our communities so we must continue to be vigilant about implementing COVID-19 prevention strategies.

“Anyone who lives in, works in, or has visited Nhill, is urged to watch for the mildest of COVID-19 symptoms and get tested as soon as possible if symptoms develop.”

The COVID-19 testing clinic at the Nhill Truck Exchange is open from 12 midday to 12 midnight daily.

“Please do your part and help prevent the spread of COVID-19 by maintaining a safe distance from others, wear a mask in public, especially indoors and wash your hands often.”

“Vaccination is the best form of defence against COVID-19 and community members are strongly encouraged to contact their local Doctors clinic to book a COVID-19 vaccination appointment.”

Daily case numbers have been easing slightly over recent days with 797 cases reported this morning.
