CFA has announced fire restrictions for West Wimmera, Horsham and the remainder of Yarriambiack local government areas.

Restrictions came into force earlier this week in the the whole of the Hindmarsh Shire Council, and the part of the northern part of the Yarriambiack Shire Council.

The Fire Danger Period will begin at 1.00 am on Monday, 22 November for the following municipalities in CFA’s West Region:
  • West Wimmera Shire Council (northern part) - north of the line described by the following: Elliots Track, Northern Break, Kaniva - Edenhope Road, McDonald Track, McDonald Highway, Nhill - Harrow Road and Southern Break.
  • West Wimmera Shire Council (central part) - north of the line described by the following: Natimuk-Frances Road, Lake Charlegrark Road, Kaniva-Edenhope Road, Sims Road, Charam - Wombelano Road, Wombelano Road and Harrow - Clear Lake Road.
  • Horsham Rural City Council (northern part) - north of the line described by the following: Harrow - Clear Lake Road, Jallumba - Douglas Road, Jallumba - Mockinya Road, Wonwondah - Toolondo Road, North East Wonwondah Road, Grampians Road, Wonwondah - Dadswells Bridge Road, Fulbrooks Road.
  • Yarriambiack Shire Council (remainder)
The Fire Danger Period will begin at 1.00 am on Monday, 29 November for the following municipalities in CFA’s West Region:
  • Horsham Rural City Council (remainder)
  • West Wimmera Shire Council (remainder)
Once a Fire Danger Period has been declared in your local government area, fires cannot be lit
in the open air without a written permit from CFA or a Municipal Fire Prevention Officer. There are very strict conditions attached to these permits and the liability sits with the permit holder to ensure they always act safely.
