Following the Federal election last month, the Australian Electoral Commission has officially declared the seat of Mallee to Nationals incumbent Dr Anne Webster.

Dr Webster on Tuesday thanked the electorate of Mallee for putting their faith in her to represent them for the next three years.

“It is truly humbling to have the privilege to represent Mallee for another three years. I have always put the interests of our community first and will continue to fight hard to see Mallee get its fair share,” Dr Webster said.

“There is a lot of work to be done over the next three years to hold the incoming government to account as Australia faces significant challenges.

“I am focussed on lobbying hard for Labor to support commitments to valuable projects in Mallee such as the Dunmunkle Child Care, Davis Park in Nhill, and the Murray River Adventure Trail and many others.

“I want to thank my community for their trust, my grassroots Nationals campaign team, my hard-working staff and my wonderful husband and family for their tireless support.”

Dr Webster received 68.99% of the Two Candidate Preferred votes, up from 65.68% at the last election for a swing to the Nationals of 3.31%.

In a field of eight candidates, the top four from First Preference voting were Dr Webster, who received 50,187 votes or 49.09%, followed by the Australian Labor Party’s Carole Hart with 17,133 votes (16.76%), Independent Sophie Baldwin with 10,256 (10.03%), and Stuart King of the United Australia Pary, 9,271 (9.07%).

The Electorate of Mallee has 120,339 registered voters, of which 90.03% voted in this election, and 5.64% of the votes cast were informal.
