The Dimboola and District Tennis Association season hit off on the weekend, with the promise of some healthy competition over the next five months to decide the 2023/24 premiers.
The action kicked off on Friday night, with Hopetoun hosting Rainbow, and although the weather was crisp, Hopetoun proved unstoppable in the Mixed, winning 3 sets, 29 games, to Rainbow 1 set, 20 games. Anthony Schache, Declan Brown, Lou White and Taylor Donnan proved to be too strong and won 4 sets, 36 games to Rainbow 0 sets and 8 games.
The Ladies played a competitive contest, with Hopetoun defeating Rainbow 2 sets, 31 games to Rainbow, 2 sets, 30 games.
The overall score was Hopetoun 5 match points, 9 sets and 96 games to Rainbow 0 points, 3 sets and 68 games.
On Saturday, Jeparit hosted Brim. The Brim Mixed team won over their opposition by 4 sets, 47 games to Jeparit, 2 sets and 36 games.
The Brim Men defeated their opponents by 5 sets, 52 games, to Jeparit 1 set, 25 games. The Ladies battled it out, with Jeparit winning 3 sets, 42 games to Brim 3 sets, 37 games. The overall score was Brim 3 points, 12 sets and 136 games to Jeparit, 1 point, 6 sets and 103 games.
The final match for the weekend saw Arkona host Antwerp, with Antwerp showing up and breaking through the Mixed with 4 sets, 36 games to Arkona, 0 sets, 13 games.
The Men were an extremely close contest, ending at 2 sets and 28 games all.
The Antwerp women were strong, winning 10 sets, 100 games, to Arkona 2 sets, 56 games. The overall score was Antwerp 4.5 points, 10 sets and 100 games to Arkona 0.5 points, 2 sets and 56 games.
Unfortunately, Dimboola forfeited their match against Warracknabeal.
